Students attending Welte have the opportunity to earn college credit by taking a Career Start course at Pikes Peak Community College (PPCC) starting their junior year. Students will earn high school credit by passing a course with a "D" or better and college credit by earning a "C" or better in a course. The school district covers cost for tuition and provides transportation to PPCC for students.
High school sophomores and juniors interested in taking a Career Start course at PPCC for their following year will have an opportunity to tour programs on the campus in February through a sign up sheet provided by the school counselor in January. Eligibility to participate in a Career Start course depends on grades, attendance, and behavior. In addition, Career Start courses must align with credits needed to graduate on time. The following attachment provides some more information about Career Start and courses offered.
