Notes from the Principal

December 1, 2018

Dear Eagleside Community,

Thank you to all the families who donated food items during the November food drive. As a school, we collected an astounding 2991 pounds food. That is an amazing outpouring of kindness! During the month of December, we will continue practicing generosity with our Angel Tree. Donations of new hats, mittens, scarves, coats, toys and books.  All donations should be unwrapped and can be brought to the classrooms, or dropped off in the office.

If providing for your children this holiday season is a hardship for you, please reach out to our school counselor, Mrs. Hollis. She can arrange assistance for a variety of needs from several sources within our community.

As we complete the second quarter of school we will be completing several assessments that help us measure academic growth for the first semester. Attendance continues to be very important. Thank you for having your child at school and on time. In addition to these assessments, we will be having celebrations as well!

Other events in December include an Ugly Sweater Day on December 19th. We also have a holiday shop on the 12th – 14th opening after school and run through the evening until 4:00pm. There is a movie night planned for the 14th well, at 5:00pm – 7:30pm. This will be a series of short movies and is intended to be come and go. We will have hot chocolate! Watch for further details from the PSO.

Thursday, December 20th is the last day of the quarter, with an 11:30 release. Many classrooms have holiday celebrations planned. Winter break will be from December 20th through Friday, January 4th. Students will return to school on January 7th.

We have a large number of students walking to and from school this year. There is also a great deal of construction traffic on the neighborhood roads.  Please make a point to speak with your student about the safety of staying on the sidewalks as they walk to and from school and using crosswalks.

Finally, please remember that we go outside every day that is above 20 degrees. Ensure that they are properly attired for the weather. Our lost and found is rapidly increasing, if you are missing anything this might be the place to look!

It is an honor serving you and your family. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
