Mrs. Veronica Castillo
Hello and welcome to my page! My name is Mrs. Castillo, and I am ecstatic to return and enrich your students with music education once again this year, specifically in general music, band, and choir! This is my 7th year teaching overall, making it my 2nd year teaching in the beautiful state of Colorado!
I earned both my Bachelor of Music and my Master of Music in Music Education degrees from Arizona State University (Go Sun Devils!). My main instruments are the clarinet and drum set, and I have performed professionally on both instruments around the Phoenix valley. I taught elementary general music and band for half a decade until my husband and the Army brought both of us to Colorado, and we absolutely love it here.
On my spare time, I love going to the gym and sightseeing with my husband and our husky-mixed dog, whether exploring the United States or when provided the opportunity, internationally.

I look forward to working with the eclectic students of Mountainside Elementary, especially serving those who serve for us! Thank you!

The Benefits of Learning via Music Education
Not only do I hope to provide a strong foundation in your child's musicianship, but I hope your students will take away vital life skills to contribute to their future and our world, such as responsibility, preparation, patience, effort, teamwork, analytical thinking, and perseverance, just to name a few. By allowing your child to participate in the arts, you are helping them acquire these skills at an early age.
Did I mention that music also branches out to other school subjects in addition to their creative side? It helps students to count rhythms mathematically, learn new vocabulary, read and decode musical notation, discover how different sized instruments produce higher or lower pitches through science, learn about historical backgrounds with certain songs, and it even contributes to them physically learning how to properly play an instrument by developing muscle memory in their fine motor skills, whether through general music instruments or band. It is a great way to exercise both hemispheres of your child's brain!
Thank you for valuing music education! ♫♪
