Mental Health

Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8 is dedicated to supporting student mental wellness and providing services and supports when students encounter mental health challenges.  The district has a team of over 20 school counselors, 7 school social workers, and over 15 school psychologists who partner with school nurses, administrators, and staff to meet student mental and behavioral health needs.  In addition, FFC8 partners with a variety of community therapeutic supports to provide intervention within buildings, including School Behavioral Health and Military Family Life Consultants at schools on post, and embedded Diversus therapists at schools in Fountain.  Together, this team is able to provide comprehensive services to support health and safety for all. 

Responsive Classroom, K-5

Responsive Classroom is an evidence-based approach to teaching and discipline that focuses on engaging academics, positive community, effective management, and developmental awareness. This approach leads to the creation of safe, joyful, and engaging classrooms and school communities where students develop strong social and academic skills and every student can thrive.

Sources of Strength, 6-12

Sources of Strength is a strength-based, comprehensive wellness program that focuses on suicide prevention but impacts other issues such as substance abuse and violence. It promotes and focuses on connectivity, school bonding, peer-adult partnerships, and help seeking behaviors.  

Signs of Suicide- 6-12

The Signs of Suicide program is a universal, school-based depression awareness and suicide prevention program implemented in all FFC8 middle schools and high schools.  The goals of the program are to

1. decrease suicide and suicide attempts by increasing student knowledge and adaptive attitude
2. encourage students to seek help for themselves or on behalf of a friend when needed
3. reduce the stigma of mental illness and
4. engage parents and school staff as partners in prevention.

Care Solace calms the chaos of mental health care. Our goal: Ensure communities can access reliable, ethical and high-quality mental health care services - no matter the circumstances. Our highly specialized Care Companions™ match students, staff and families in need to verified, local service providers, securing appointments in days, not weeks or months. Colorado Crisis Services

Colorado Crisis Services is the statewide behavioral health crisis response system offering residents mental health, substance use or emotional crisis help, information and referrals. Its mission is to strengthen Colorado’s mental health system by providing Coloradans with greater access to crisis services wherever they are at 24/7/365 regardless of ability to pay. All phone calls are free, confidential and professional.
