Dr. Bill Dallas
Welcome to Fountain Middle School. I have the privilege of serving as the Principal at Fountain Middle School in Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8. The 2016-2017 academic year will be my first at FMS and FFC8, and I am excited to contribute to the future of FMS.
I am currently in my 15th year in education, where I have primarily served in middle/high school settings. Prior to becoming a school administrator, I taught middle/high school science. I am originally from Michigan, however my family and I relocated to Colorado during the summer of 2004 to take advantage of the amazing natural landscape Colorado has to offer. When not contributing to the success of public education, I enjoy running, road and mountain biking, and skiing. My passion is competing in endurance races. I have completed multiple triathlons including three Ironman Triathlons. I have also raced mountain bikes, and completed the Leadville 100 MTB.
I believe middle school should be the institution that ushers your children into young adolescence, which requires a community effort. Please feel free to join me the first Thursday of each month in an open forum discussion called Latte with Leadership. Additionally, please free to contact me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
My background in education:
In 2001, I graduated from Lake Superior State University in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, with a Bachelors of Science in Biology, with an emphasis on Genetics. At the onset of this degree, I strived to earn a doctorate in genetic research, however after teaching lab courses at the university level, re-routed myself towards education. I began teaching 7th grade Life Sciences in Sault Ste. Marie Michigan, then Chemistry, Physics, Physical Science, and Astronomy in Illinois while my wife earned a master’s degree. In 2004 we relocated to Colorado where I taught Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Environmental Science. In 2009, I graduated from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs with a Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership. I then served 4 years as a middle school Assistant Principal, followed by 3 years as an elementary school Principal prior to coming to Fountain Middle School. In the May of 2017, I will graduate as a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership, Research, and Foundations from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs.
As a Doctor of Philosophy, I have authored research relating to Response to Intervention implementation in the elementary school setting. I have also authored work on the role of rural superintendents in Colorado, turnover rates of Colorado administrators, and a series of evaluations on the Negative Factor of Colorado School Finance.
I am always open to discussing Fountain Middle School, and education in Colorado.
