  • Band

Mountainside is fortunate to be one of the few elementary schools that provides band at this level in the district! Band is offered for students in 4th and 5th grades to provide a head start on learning an instrument before middle school. Instruments include the flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, euphonium, and percussion. Percussion will start with bell kits first.

Students will typically meet twice a week for about 50 minutes and receive instruction on basic music fundamentals and the first few notes on their instrument, along with basic instrument care. In addition, they will be gaining skills in teamwork, perseverance, effort, and responsibility, just to name the few out of the many skills acquired from participating in a music ensemble.

There will be at least 2 concerts per school year, typically happening in the Fall and Spring semesters.

    Treble Bass Clef Heart

Choir is offered for students from 3rd – 5th grades, providing a head start on further developing on their singing voice in addition to what they learn and practice in General Music. Students will learn how to sing in unison and occasionally with two-parts, while also gaining skills such as teamwork, effort, perseverance, and many more. Choir students meet once a week for about 50 minutes and receive instruction on voice warm-ups and a variety of genres and cultural songs.

There will be at least 2 concerts per school year in conjunction with band, typically happening in the Fall and Spring semesters. Occasionally there may be additional performances held for the community.

The Mountainside Choir has been featured 2 years in a row to perform for the "Honoring the Brave" breakfast, hosted by Peak Military Care Network!
