Hello! Teaching began for me when I was swim instructor for the City of Colorado Springs during my high school years. I loved seeing the kids learn and become confident in their skills! For college I went on to get my Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Production Management from CU Boulder and afterwards got to work at the Boulder Daily Camera, The Denver Post and then CNN in Atlanta. I also went on to do Marketing for several high end real estate developers and also worked at some advertising agencies. I have been a freelance writer for a magazine in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida called The 30-A Review since the early 90's. I got to be a stay-at-home mom while my children were little which was a great blessing! I decided to pursue teaching as a career after both of my own children had an amazing 4th grade teacher in West Linn, Oregon. He was able to figure out what genre of books they liked and got them to become avid readers and successful students. I decided to do the 1-year program to get my Masters of Arts in Teaching at Concordia University and spent 1.5 years as a substitute teacher in Oregon and then in Colorado before I got my own classroom last year at Monument Academy where I taught 5th grade. It was an amazing experience considering it was both the Year of Covid and my first year having my own class. I am super excited to be at Mountainside this year and being able to teach 4th grade! I am very passionate about challenging students to go beyond what they ever thought was possible in their educational journey, while inspiring them to become awesome writers and readers! I also strive to make math understandable and even fun!

For fun I like to spend time with my amazing family going on walks, hikes or bike rides. We all love skiing in the winter and we try to take at least 2 fun trips every summer to visit family or go to the beach. I have a golden retriever named Milo and a cat named Dia and they both keep us super busy!
