Race Cause and Mission

  • FFC8 serves over 8,000 students in the town of Fountain and on the Fort Carson Army Installation, and is one of the most diverse student bodies in the state of Colorado. In addition to providing an engaging and rigorous academic education, FFC8 cares deeply about the overall well-being of its students and communities - both military and civilian - and has made significant investments to support mental health and substance use prevention, foster a sense of community, and meet nutritional and clothing needs for struggling students and families.

Recently, FFC8 has invested in three key efforts to support student and family well-being that remain critically important as the community continues to address the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

    • sources of strength program logoSources of Strength is an evidence-based, suicide prevention program designed to foster positive and healthy youth living. The mission of Sources of Strength is to prevent youth suicide by increasing help seeking behaviors and promoting connections between peers and caring adults. FFC8 has youth-led teams at both middle schools and both high schools who create campaigns to engage other students to enhance student and school connectedness, belonging and well-being.
    • The Fountain Food Pantry is re-open in a new, state-of-the art building, and provides both perishable and non-perishable food items to FFC8 families in need. The program is currently being expanded to individual school sites where, as refrigerators are being installed, families can order food that is delivered by the Food Pantry to the school for students to bring home to the family the same day.
    • The Community Clothing Closet also resides in a brand new location, and is a store that contains brand new clothing items of all styles and sizes. Families in need of clothing receive vouchers to shop at the Clothing Closet, and all items are free to FFC8 students and families.  The Community Clothing Closet is organized and maintained by a team of school social workers and the 18-21 Transition Special Education program students.

Financial donations can be made on the registration site or checks (made payable to Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8 and "Foster the Future" or specific program name in the memo) can be sent to attn: Lisa Zimprich at 10665 Jimmy Camp Road, Fountain, CO 80817.
