Degrees and Certifications:
Bachelors: Elementary Education with an Emphasis in Mathematics
Mr. Gearhart's Page
I hope you everyone had a great summer! My name is Zachary Gearhart, and this is my Third-Year teaching at Eagleside Elementary. I was born and raised in Grand Junction, Colorado where I also went to Colorado Mesa University to obtain my bachelor’s degree in elementary education, with an emphasis in mathematics. I graduated in December of 2018 and began my teaching career as a long-term substitute in second grade classroom for Mesa County Valley School District #51. Over the summer, I have had the opportunity of exploring Fountain and the Colorado Springs area.
I am the oldest child. I have a sister that just graduated from Kansas University, in Lawrence, Kansas studying mechanical engineering. My parents live in Grand Junction, Colorado along with the majority of my family. Although, my family is located in Grand Junction, I still have a large support system locally.
When I am not teaching first grade, you will find me walking my dogs Sadie (Black Lab), Arya (German Shepherd), and Avery (Border Collie) in the evenings around the neighborhood, hiking the local trails, bowling and golfing with my friends, visiting my family in Grand Junction, Colorado, traveling, meeting new people, and experiencing what Colorado has to offer.
When going through the elementary education program at Colorado Mesa University, I was able to observe and student teach in kindergarten, second, third, and fifth grades. It was a great experience getting familiar with each of the grade level standards. This last school year, student teaching in second grade and being a substitute in second grade helped me familiarize myself with what is expected for incoming first graders. I look forward to digging deep into the Colorado student academic standards for first grade and providing quality instruction to my students.
Thank you for the opportunity of being your child's teacher! I look forward to getting to know each student and their families throughout the school year. Please feel free to email, message me on remind, or call me with any questions to the upcoming school year.
