Pearson Data- Information Letter
Letter from FFC8 Administration - August 2019
The district has learned that a program we use in a limited capacity called AIMweb 1.0, owned by Pearson Assessments, was impacted by a breach of data that includes a small number of our former students. No students currently enrolled in an FFC8 school for the 2019-2020 were impacted. AIMweb 1.0 is a retired software program and not currently in use by Pearson or FFC8.
According to the information provided to us by Pearson Assessments, a minimal amount of information was at risk of being accessed in the breach. The only information at risk was the child’s name. Pearson also confirms that no data that has been breached in their larger situation has been misused at this time.
Before entering into a contractual agreement with any company that may access or need student data, FFC8 does due diligence to ensure those companies have data privacy policies that are in compliance with the Colorado Student Data Transparency and Security Act (HB 16-1423). If you’d like, you can read more about how FFC8 protects student data privacy on our website.
Should you have questions about if your student was potentially at risk of having their name accessed, please call 719-382-1300 to be directed to the appropriate person. Thank you for your partnership in educating the children of FFC8.
