2025 NONPARTISAN SCHOOL BOARD DIRECTOR ELECTION - CANCELLED

State law at Colo. Rev. Stat. § 1-5-208(1.5) authorizes the Board of Education by resolution to cancel the election and declare the candidates elected if at the close of business on August 29, 2025, there are not more candidates than offices to be filled at the election, including candidates filing affidavits of intent to be write-in candidates. The Board of Education of El Paso County School District 8 (Fountain-Fort Carson School District) adopted a resolution on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 for cancellation of the Board Director Election, if warranted.

The only matter before the electors at the regular biennial school election on November 4, 2025, is the election of two (2) persons to fill two (2) offices of school director; and two (2) individuals have nomination petitions with sufficient signatures to qualify as candidates. Two (2) candidates will be hereby declared elected by acclamation: Loretta Kimball and Shirley Martinez.

Between Election Day and the next regular meeting of the Board of Education or the Board’s organizational meeting, whichever comes first, the designated election official shall provide these candidates with certificates of election after which they shall each take the oath of office within 10 days and will thereafter be qualified to participate in meetings of the Board of Education.
