2023 Course Offerings

Students will enroll in Math, English Language Arts, and select two elective courses. Classes and sections will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Click here to register your student. Registration is open April 17 - May 31, 2023. 

After adding the first course to the cart please select three more courses to finalize SLI registration. 

Math (Required)

Students learning in Math

This is a one-hour class where students will explore mathematics through hands-on, problem-based learning experiences. Our goal is to get students excited about math while providing them with effective strategies to solve any real-world problems. 

English Language Arts (Required)

This summer, children will dive into literacy through engaging read-aloud, strategic vocabulary development, and purposeful instruction in effective comprehension strategies. High-quality literature will spark thoughtful conversation and learning from which all students will benefit. 

Art

Elementary Art is a one hour class. Students will have an opportunity to explore their artistic and creative side. This is a hands-on class with many opportunities to learn new and exciting ways to creatively think. Projects will vary with grade level participation. If your student has a desire to learn new and exciting ways to express himself/herself, then sign them up today for this inviting class! 

PE

Physical Education is a one hour class. Students have additional opportunity this summer to participate in movement games and exercises that will stretch their bodies and give them a great mental break this summer. This class will ensure that students grow both academically and physically. 

Coding 

Students in Coding class

Elementary Computer Coding is a one hour class. Learning to code at a young age is a great opportunity for kids and teens to develop their problem-solving and critical thinking skills, while building the necessary focus and organization to see projects through to completion. Hands-on activities will be provided. This is a fun and interactive class that will benefit your child and promote essential computer skills. 

S.T.E.M.

S.T.E.M. is a one hour class. Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics uses a blended learning environment. Hands-on activities will be provided. This is a fun and interactive class that will show students how the scientific method can be applied to everyday life.  

Music

Music is a one hour class. Students will learn to read music,       play instruments, understand rhythmic patterns, and express themselves through creative movement and signing.  

Literacy Clinic

Fountain-Fort Carson School District is offering a free literacy clinic this summer for students in Kindergarten – 3rd grade.  This targeted reading intervention is only available to students through teacher recommendations during the Summer Learning Institute.  Through Literacy Clinic participation, children receive 55 minutes of reading intervention in a small group setting that targets decoding, comprehension, and fluency skills. 

Registration closes on May 12th. Please reach out to your child’s teacher for additional information. 

Students participating in the Literacy Clinic may also sign-up to participate in SLI, however, this is not required.
