Welcome to Essential Skills, a dynamic class designed to nurture students' holistic development by focusing on key attributes crucial for success in both academic and personal spheres. In this class, we will delve into four essential skills: Mindfulness, Communication Skills, Team Work, and Social Skills, with an added focus on conflict resolution and problem-solving. Much like the invigorating Physical Education class, Essential Skills aims to engage students actively, but this time, we'll exercise the mind and social abilities. Students will learn mindfulness for increased self-awareness, improve communication through interactive exercises, develop teamwork with collaborative problem-solving, and enhance social skills through engaging activities. Join Essential Skills this summer for a unique experience promoting personal and academic growth in a fun setting.

Literacy Clinic

Elementary student reading a book

Fountain-Fort Carson School District is offering a free literacy clinic this summer for students in Kindergarten – 3rd grade.  This targeted reading intervention is only available to students through teacher recommendations during the Summer Learning Institute.  Through Literacy Clinic participation, children receive 55 minutes of reading intervention in a small group setting that targets decoding, comprehension, and fluency skills.

Students participating in the Literacy Clinic may also sign-up to participate in SLI, however, this is not required.
