New Director of Student Achievement & Early Learning

Miranda Lopez

Please join us in welcoming our new Director of Student Achievement and Early Learning, Melanie Baker.

In this role, Ms.Baker will work collaboratively across the district to support and strengthen our preschool programming, partner with elementary schools to elevate high-quality literacy instruction, and ensure our early readers get the foundation they need to thrive.

This year marks her 22nd year of dedicated service to our district, a journey that actually began long before her professional career. She has experienced FFC8 through so many different lenses.

  • Student at Carson Middle School
  • Student Teacher at Aragon Elementary
  • Teacher & Instructional Coach at Abrams Elementary
  •  Assistant Principal at Weikel Elementary
  • Principal at Mountainside Elementary

"These experiences have shaped my passion for supporting students and educators, and I look forward to continuing that work in my new role," said Ms.Baker.

She holds a Master's degree in Reading Curriculum and Instruction from Grand Canyon University, as well as a Master's degree in Educational Administration from Argosy University.

Transitioning to the Central Office team, Ms. Baker is eager to scale her impact and support educators on a broader level.

"I look forward to collaborating with schools, listening to their needs, and providing support that helps teachers and leaders do what they do best: creating meaningful learning experiences for students," Ms. Baker shared. "One of the things I value most about FFC8 is the strong sense of family and partnership among our staff, and I am excited to contribute to that culture while supporting schools, educators, and students across the district."

Please join us in congratulating Ms. Baker on this exciting new chapter!
