Nurse Katie Delaney Named FFC8 2024-2025 Employee of the Year

Congratulations to Abrams Elementary School Nurse Katie Delaney, named the 2024-2025 District Employee of the Year during the FFC8 Welcome Back Breakfast on August 1.
"It's such an honor to be selected and I am so grateful and appreciative, but you don't have to win an award to decide to show up every day for kids, or be passionate about what you do, and I know there are a lot of quiet contributors to kids' success who do exactly that, every day," said Nurse Katie.
Nurse Katie joined the #FFC8Family in the summer of 2023. This is her 3rd year at Abrams Elementary. Her favorite parts of the job are building relationships with students, families, and her fellow staff members.
Nurse Katie credits much of her success to the strong support system around her.
“The health team has mentored me, helped guide me in my decision-making, and given me the resources I need to thrive,” she said. “My admin team and co-workers at Abrams work collaboratively with me to meet the various needs that arise for our kiddos...The secretaries who have been with me since I started, Heather and Josslyn, are a big part of my success. They have my back when I'm overwhelmed or need to be gone, we work smoothly as a team, and we trust each other.
She also credits her family for allowing her to fully invest in her role. “They always support me in the things that are important to me, and they gracefully share me with the families of Abrams.”
This year will be her family’s last in Colorado, making the honor especially meaningful. “When we moved here, I had no idea that I would end up working at a job I have loved, in a district that has become home,” she said. “I didn’t start working here to create any type of ‘legacy,’ and I have no idea if anyone will even remember Nurse Katie when I leave. But I know I will forever remember Abrams, FFC8, the schools that have taken such wonderful care of my own children, the friends who have become family, and the way we have been fully embraced by this loving community. It will forever be the standard to which we hold all of our other educational experiences. Quite simply… thank you.”
