JROTC Rifle Team Brings Christmas to the Commissary at Fort Carson
The Commissary on Fort Carson was filled with a lot of hugging, crying, thank yous, and compliments on Dec. 21. The Fountain-Fort Carson High School Rifle team provided $100 gift certificates to ten people in the military community who were out shopping.
This was all a part of the team's service learning project. Back in October, the team sponsored their third annual Turkey Shoot to raise money. It was held at the high school's field house. Staff could pay $5 to try shooting at a target a couple of times. No live turkeys were shot, only paper ones.
100 percent of the proceeds went towards purchasing gift cards. Overall, the team raised $1,000. One of the families who received a gift card said it was such a blessing and expressed gratitude toward the students.
