Fountain, CO (April 9, 2025)—For its exemplary record of leadership, service, and activities that improve the school and community, the Fountain Fort Carson High School student council has been recognized as a 2024 National Gold Council of Excellence by the National Association of Student Councils (NASC). The NASC program is supported by its parent organization, the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).

The FFCHS Student Council has worked extensively to put on events that are fun, engaging, and inclusive of our school community. We had another successful year of Domination and Homecoming week, our Heart Chase Assembly Fundraiser, and chose to focus our efforts on small events such as a Dungeons and Dragons Game Night, and a Multicultural Festival ending in a movie night.

“Receiving a National Gold Council of Excellence Award reflects the amazing dedication of the students and school to make their community a better place,” said NASSP CEO Ronn Nozoe. “Fountain Fort Carson High School has gone above and beyond in elevating student voice to ensure they are establishing a positive climate and culture, as well as fostering academic and social growth for all.”

Mrs. Carland and Ms. Stock want to thank both the 2023-2024 and the 2024-2025 Student Council for their work on this award. The officers, Camila Quintero, Gigi Bundu, Bri Sailor, Justin Misner, Brody Kinkennon, and Sam Badejo, worked for months to ensure that FFCHS met all the criteria and promoted projects and events that were in line with NASC.

A student council must meet a variety of criteria to earn the National Gold Council of Excellence Award. In addition to basic requirements such as a written constitution, regular meetings, and a democratic election process, the councils must have demonstrated successful sponsorship and participation in activities such as leadership development and service to the school and community.
