April is Month of the Military Child

April is recognized nationally as the Month of the Military Child, and nowhere does that resonate more than in Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8.

For the district, the Month of the Military Child is more than a tradition - it is a tribute to the resilience of approximately 70% of students in the district connected to the military. These young heroes navigate deployments, frequent moves, and the challenge of starting over with incredible grace.

This April, schools are holding festivals, creating videos, and sharing stories in celebration of military children. Check out our district social media to see photos from all the celebrations! April 15 is Purple Up! Day across the district. A time for everyone to wear purple in support of our military kids. 

In 2025, every K-12 school in FFC8 earned the Purple Star School designation from the Colorado Department of Education. This honor recognizes the district-wide commitment to providing the specialized social, emotional, and academic support military families deserve.

From dedicated transition programs to staff trained in the military lifestyle and challenges, FFC8 ensures no student walks their path alone.
