An ambitious 4th Grade teacher is not only inspiring students inside the classroom but outside as well. Jacob Godino, a teacher at Patriot Elementary School, became the 26th person to join the 500 Club. He accomplished that by climbing the Manitou Incline 500 times in one year.

Mr. Godino started his climbing journey in early January 2022, climbing the Manitou Incline twice a day. As the year progressed, the more rigorous his journey became. He even climbed Manitou a whopping 13 times in one day. This is something Incline climbers know as an “inclineathon." To accomplish his inclineathon, Godino says, “I did nothing but climb up and run down from 4 a.m. through about midnight that day.”

Wearing through about seven pairs of shoes and climbing over one million vertical feet, Godino says he felt inspired by the other climbers, and that he truly treasures the experience.

This determined teacher won't stop here, as he shares his goals for this year.

“I’m trying to increase my running mileage and I would love to continue running longer distance races as well,” explains Godino.

He also shared that he wants to complete the Speedgoat 50k in July 2023. He also plans to climb the Manitou Incline another 200 times.

Mr. Godino continues to be an inspiration to his 4th graders, teaching them that you can do anything that you put your mind to.
