Advanced Learning Plan

  • Once a student is identified as a gifted learner, the educational team, along with parents, will meet to develop an Advanced Learning Plan (ALP). The plan will be reviewed on a yearly basis and contain educational objectives and outcomes to promote and define programming and strategies for academic excellence.

To ensure a student is challenged academically and is being provided a curriculum to address his/her areas of giftedness, various programming options may be provided. These may include:

    • Curriculum compacting or acceleration
    • Flexible grouping
    • Enrichment opportunities
    • Independent study
    • Pre-AP classes (middle school and high school)
    • College-level courses (high school)
    • Advanced Placement (AP)
    • Extra-curricular activities
    • Leadership opportunities
    • College and career counseling
    • District and regional competitions
