"18-FFC8-Wifi" Questions and Answers
Question: Would have some time available for a 20-minute cloud demo?
Answer: The District is not currently participating in demonstrations.
Question: I had a question regarding the proposal , it states “Demonstrated a successful history of participation in the E-Rate System” although we do not currently have a history in the E-Rate system. We do have a number of references from other school districts that we have worked with. I would be happy to provide references from these jobs. With that said if our references will be sufficient for this item we would be happy to place a bid for the project.
Answer: Due to the critical nature of E-Rate funding, the district prefers to work with vendors who understand and have worked through the complexities of the process. We will, however, take into account additional references when evaluating responses.
Question: Is there a manufacturer preference for the project?
Answer: Ruckus is the preferred manufacturer for the project.
Question: How many new Cat6 cable runs do you anticipate?
Answer: This will be determined by the individual design submitted by the successful vendor. Existing cable runs may be re-used, however, if the submitted design requires additional cable runs, the vendor will be responsible for the additional run(s).
Question: It looks like Ruckus' Wifi product line was contracted for an E-Rate project last year. Is this RFP replacing last year's procurement or will these AP's be added to that project?
Answer: This year’s RFP is not replacing last year’s procurement. This year’s RFP is for the Wifi replacement for the remainder of our School District.
Question: Are there any specific features or functionality you were looking for?
Answer: All special features and functionality that we are looking for are listed in the RFP. If there is something that is vendor specific that we are unaware of, by all means, we will consider it.
Question: Is this a partial or full upgrade of your wireless network?
Answer: This RFP is for a full replacement of the wireless environment in the buildings listed in the RFP.
Question: What type of Firewall is currently in place at the school?
Answer: Our firewall is not maintained at the school level.
Question: Are there floor plans available for where the access points will be placed?
Answer: The floor plans posted on our site in the 2018-FFC8-Wifi RFP Maps and Data Closet Info file reflect the current locations of the access points. Site plans can vary depending on the manufacturer and the configuration of the controller and access points. Therefore, we are requiring that the proposing company design a site plan that they feel will perform best in our buildings.
Question: After USAC approves what percentage is Fountain-Fort Carson School District responsible for? (20%, 30%)?
Answer: Fountain-Ft Carson School District 8 is currently responsible for 20% of the cost. CDE will officially release the updated NSLP numbers January 9, 2018, at which time we will update the numbers in our USAC EPC portal. If the percentage changes, we will update this information.
