Degrees and Certifications:
Kathrin Polyefko, Assistant Principal
Greetings Patriot Elementary Families,
My name is Kathrin Polyefko and I am thrilled and honored to serve as one of the Assistant Principals of Patriot Elementary School. This is my fifth year with Fountain/Fort Carson School District 8 at Patriot Elementary School but my first year as assistant principal. Prior to becoming an assistant principal, I was a classroom teacher for 10 years, an English Language Development (ELD) teacher, and Instructional Coach.
I am a German native and travel to visit family and friends often. I completed my undergraduate teaching degree at the Otto-Friedrich University in Bamberg, Germany. I also have a Master in Teaching Students of Other Languages (TESOL) from Grand Canyon University and a Master in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. There are many people in this world who never have the opportunity to pursue the career they love. I am not one of them. From the time I was a child to the day I left for college, I knew I wanted to become a teacher. I love what I do and I found that interacting with children and young adults gave me energy and inspiration.
When I am not at school, I love spending time at home with my husband and three children. This year, my son is an 8th grader, my oldest daughter is in 6th grade, and my youngest will be starting 3rd grade. That they keep us busy is an understatement. They all enjoy learning musical instruments and are active in various sports. When we are not watching the kids practice or compete, we love traveling and exploring the Colorado outdoors. My husband was stationed at Ft Carson many years ago and we have loved Colorado ever since.
At Patriot, we ensure that students feel safe and have a personal connection to their school. We have high expectations for learning and achievement supported through excellent instruction and learning opportunities. I look forward to working with the Patriot community to ensure students have a rich learning experience. Patriot is a great place for students, staff, parents, and community members. We welcome everyone to be involved in our school to help your student reach his or her maximum potential. Together we can take our school to the next level of excellence!
I look forward to experiencing this new adventure with our wonderful staff and community. Together.
