I am so excited to be joining the Fountain Middle School team as Assistant Principal!
I am in my fourth year as member of the Fountain Middle School admin team as an assistant principal. Last year, I served as the 8th grade administrator, but this year, I will be working directly with our 6th grade students, teachers and their families. There is something so unique about 6th grade students. The first year in middle school is such a big transition for students (and parents) and I feel honored to be a part of this defining year. I love watching 6th graders grow into confident teenagers, who successfully figure out how to navigate the middle school world. Their excitement and energy is contagious!
This school year is my 17th year as an educator (it has flown by). In 2003, I graduated from Texas A&M University (WHOOP!) with a Bachelor of Science in Education and in 2008 I received my Master of Educational Leadership and Administration degree from Sam Houston State University. During my time as an educator, I have been a general education teacher (elementary), an English Language Arts and Social Studies teacher, and a Linguistically Diverse Education teacher. Just prior to becoming an assistant principal, I served as an Instructional Coordinator where I spent time coaching teachers, and providing professional development. I knew early on in my teaching career that I wanted to go into administration, and every day as an assistant principal at FMS I am grateful that I moved in this direction. Being an administrator at a middle school is always an adventure and it is full of opportunities to learn and grow.
