1st Term: 2017 - 2021
Ms. Michelle Hopkins was elected to serve on the Board of Education in 2017. She currently works for Fort Carson where she is responsible for the internal and external collaboration and communication across all aspects of community health and high risk behavior prevention, awareness and training. She is responsible for the facilitation and oversight of policy, program development, outreach, future planning, data and surveillance assistance, resource management, and advocacy efforts for the Soldiers, their families, and Department of the Army civilians. Her focus is centered on leveraging expertise from multi-disciplinary professionals to develop and execute an integrated public health approach to suicide prevention and risk mitigation across multiple spectrums in order to increase the wellness and readiness of the military force.
In addition to her work with the Army, Ms. Hopkins is actively involved with the Suicide Prevention Partnership of El Paso County as a former Board member. Michelle has a background in Athletic Training/Exercise Science and Organizational Management focused on organizational leadership and behavior. Michelle has an undergraduate in Exercise Science from the University of Wyoming and a master’s degree in Organizational Management from American Military University. She has one daughter, who is a sophomore at FFCHS, and three stepchildren, one of whom graduated from Fountain-Fort Carson High School in 2017. She also is currently hosting one foreign exchange student from Serbia, who attends FFCHS as well. Her interests include genealogy, dance, weight lifting, reading, live music events and spending time with family.
